Admob supports apps and games: from my point of view, it’s the best ad network for apps and also for casual games with no real theme (like ketchapp style games).
Banner or Interstitial ?
From my point of view, for each game you can put banners: doesn’t make a big diffrence for users who see ad’s regularly. The banner average eCPM is very low, but it’s not bothering the player.
About Interstitial ad’s: this is what we commonly call popups ad’s. I suggest you to put them when the player finishes some level or episode in the app, and not to show ads more that 1 every 3-4 min (play with your app and try understand how to make it in the best wayr). Btw, this specific field is called monetization and it also includes how place in the app your IAP as well
Revenue Options?
Admob ad’s work in two ways CPC (Cost-per-click )or CPM (Cost-per-thousand-impressions) , Most of the campigns are CPC and basicly your goal, as a developer, is to get as many clicks as possible.

Where do you show ad’s?
If, for example, you have a flappy bird game and you put ad’s in middle of the session, to get many clicks and have a huge ECPM, the player will porbably leave your game quickly and also your account will be in danger (it’s called “Clicks Trap”). Try to put your ad’s so people also will click by mistake, but also it will not disturb the user too much.
